The band's popularity began to wane in 1983 after drummer Phil Ruddand left the band. The band's album sales remained low until The Razors Edge in the 1990s. Phil Rudd returned to the band in 1994 and appeared on the (1995) Ballbreaker album. In 2000, Stiff Upper Lip was critically acclaimed. The band's next album, Black Ice, was released on October 20, 2008 and became the band's first number one album in the UK since Back in Black. The band then released their album Rock or Bust on December 2, 2014. The album was a huge success and reached number 1 in many countries.
